This Privacy Policy explains how Doc Reader ("we", "our", or "the App") handles information when you download and use our mobile application to read, highlight, bookmark, and study a wide range of document formats such as PDF, DOCX, DOC, EPUB, HTML, RTF, CSV, WPD, WPS, MSG, and ASC files.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. The App has no account system, does not require registration, and does not transmit your data to our servers.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored only within the App's private storage on your device and is never sent externally:

• Imported documents: Files you open through the system file picker are copied into the App's private internal storage for reading.
• Document details: Title, file name, format, page count, file size, timestamps, favorite status, and reading progress, kept in a local database.
• Reading progress: Current page, scroll position, and reading percentage.
• Highlights and annotations: Highlighted text, highlight colors, tags, and any personal notes you add.
• Bookmarks: Saved section bookmarks, titles, and text snippets.
• Preferences: Settings such as theme mode, stored locally on your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

All locally stored information is used only to provide the App's features:

• Displaying your document library, recent files, and favorites.
• Tracking reading progress and enabling the "Continue Reading" feature.
• Saving highlights, annotations, and bookmarks for study purposes.
• Applying your display and reading preferences.
• Exporting your study notes to the clipboard when you request it.

4. Storage and Retention

Your documents and reading data remain in the App's private storage on your device. We do not keep copies on any server, and there is no cloud sync or backup to our systems. Deleting a document removes the file and its associated metadata, highlights, bookmarks, and progress. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data permanently removes all locally stored information.

5. App Permissions

The App requests only the permissions necessary for its functionality:

• Internet: Used by the advertising service (Google AdMob) to fetch and display ads.
• Network State: Used by the advertising service to check connectivity before loading ads.

Doc Reader does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, photos, or external storage. File access is handled entirely through the Android Storage Access Framework system file picker.

6. Third-Party Services and Advertising

The App includes Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner, interstitial, and native ads). AdMob may independently collect certain information to serve ads, such as device identifiers (including the advertising ID), device information, IP address (which may be used to infer approximate location), and ad interaction data. This collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's Google Ads settings.

The App also uses Firebase App Check to verify app integrity when accessing Firebase services. It sends integrity signals to Firebase but does not include your document content or personal reading data. The App does not use analytics or crash-reporting services that receive your document content.

7. Data Sharing

We do not share your documents, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress, or preferences with anyone. The only data shared with third parties comes from Google AdMob's ad-serving mechanisms described above. AdMob does not receive access to your document content or reading data.

8. Data Security

Keeping your files on your device helps limit unnecessary transmission, but no electronic storage method is completely secure. Please use your device's screen lock and review the permissions granted to the App. You are responsible for protecting sensitive documents that you open in the App.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party service used by the App, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any modifications will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
